How to obtain a Google ID for Factory Reset Protection

Introduction

Google ID is an essential part of Factory Reset Protection (FRP) configuration. This security feature protects your device from unauthorised use after a factory reset.

Procedure

  1. In the policy, select ‘Get Google ID’.

  2. Go to the interface.

  3. Fill in the fields
    resourceName
    people/me
    personFields
    metadata
  4. Click the Execute button.
  5. Log in to your Google account (it can be a private or work account), which will be required during device verification after restoring factory settings.
  6. In the result displayed, find the ID field – this is your Google ID.

  7. Copy the ID and enter it in the policy in the section:
    ‘Use Factory Reset Protection - Get Google ID’.
  8. Save changes.
